Ceramic Cases Return to the Watch
Apple is quietly re‑introducing ceramic cases for its next‑generation watches. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the Series 12 will be available in both white and dark‑gray ceramic—mirroring the premium look that first appeared on the Series 3 in 2017.
S10 Chip Gets a Refresh
The current Series 11 and Ultra 3 rely on Apple’s S10 processor. Gurman says the Series 12 will ship with the same S10 chip, but the company is already working on an S11 or newer variant, promising the first performance boost in multiple years.
Health Tracking Gets a Make‑over
Apple is moving its heart‑rate sensor into continuous‑data mode, allowing the watch to record heart‑rate throughout the day. Gurman also says the company is revamping the Health and Fitness apps to present wellness metrics in a style similar to Whoop and Oura.
What’s Missing
Despite the new features, Apple is not adding Touch ID, and the design will remain largely unchanged. Gurman notes that a major redesign is still a year or two away, and the blood‑sugar detection feature will not arrive until 2030.
